Your Openstack is up & running: now what ? Containers?
Container Management Platforms?
Once you have OpenStack up & running, what are the next steps to take? Container management platforms. The technology that is being talked about everywhere & where organisations want to start working with. But which technology will stand the test of time? OpenStack Magnum, Rancher or OpenShift?! Choosing a container management platform that helps you roll out a container environment is critical and needs to match the goals of your organisation.
At the OpenStack Day 2017 in Bussum, we’ve guided you through the different flavours of platforms, told you about pro’s and cons, how to choose and most of all, showed you a real life example of Port of Antwerp.
Road to OpenStack & containers
With more than 4 years experience in OpenStack, we notice organisations choose OpenStack because of the public cloud-like features, API's, faster & better releases, scaling and self-hosted options. And off course the fact that it is open source technology & therefore vendor independent helps. But the most important thing, it is all about applications. Organisations want to build new applications and need a good platform for that. They search for containers to run their OpenStack but also deploy their containers on OpenStack to make applications run in containers. For this last we see two options: container management platforms or OpenStack service that deploys an orchestration engine.
