Encima

Encima develops high-quality and affordable custom web and mobile applications. This West Flemish SME, founded in 2002, is active in various sectors for both large and small organizations. She manages a number of complex applications such as booking and auction sites, including Bongo's, which are business-critical and on which they offer 24/7 support.

Organizing all this yourself is not easy. Dirk Versavel, business manager at Encima, determined that they had too little expertise in this area and decided to work with a specialized partner. In his search, he came across Kangaroot.
After an initial conversation, it soon became apparent that both are very complementary and that Kangaroot could offer the necessary expertise to guarantee Encima's hosting infrastructure on a 24/7 level to their customers.

Kangaroot getting started

After an initial analysis of the existing infrastructure, Kangaroot was able to give a number of tips & advice to optimize it. “They have documented it all neatly and after that first contact we now have an engineer from Kangaroot who comes on site every month.” Dirk Versavel testifies.

“Nils, the Kangaroot engineer, visits our shop floor every 4 weeks. During a month we collect urgent or non-urgent assignments for him. This can be, for example, maintenance, setting up backup, ... .” says Koen Gogne, Project Manager at Encima. “Assuming we have urgent orders, we can still contact Kangaroot support and we'll have someone on the phone who will provide us with quick feedback.”

Open Source

Dirk has been working on Linux since his student days. Today, Encima hosts all of its web applications on Ubuntu Linux based virtual machines. “Open Source, of course one advantage is that there are no license costs involved. But for us the biggest advantage is the reliability of the tools and the community that exists including the free availability of information.” confirms Dirk Versavel.

Higher Level Hosting

Encima perfectly manages the basic configuration of the hosting infrastructure, etc. itself. “We can launch a new site ourselves, install an SSL certificate, ... ”, explains Dirk Versavel. “In order to update and maintain this knowledge, Kangaroot organizes training to be able to perform such basic services in-house. We mainly rely on Kangaroot's expertise to realize the more complex matters for us, such as the complete takeover of the hosting of the Bongo and the Smartbox applications.”

We've been working with Kangaroot for quite some time now,” concludes Dirk Versavel. “Our hosting infrastructure has clearly come to a higher level, which gives us a lot of confidence for the future.
